HS SupportLine

The HS Trust offers a confidential, anonymous telephone and email emotional support service to anyone affected by HS within the UK. All calls and emails will be answered by trained staff and volunteers, who have experience with the condition, and are able to listen with empathy, respect, and without judgement.  


Our aim is to provide a friendly listening ear to people wanting to speak openly about how the condition is affecting themselves, a family member or friend, and we will also do our very best to guide you to any services that we are unable to provide. Our volunteers will always offer a non-directional, non-advisory service, supporting and empowering callers to make their own decision, and not telling you what you should and should not do. 


Our operating hours are 10am to 2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (Except on bank holidays). We aim to answer all emails within 3 days, and calls within 1 minute, however, if you experience any issues getting through to the helpline, please email us on enquiries@hstrust.org.


What help can we offer?


  • A listening ear and a confidential place to talk

  • Signposting to reliable, up-to-date information and services that we are unable to provide

  • Inform you about the latest treatment guidelines

  • Put you in contact with local community, or online support groups

  • Send information and literature via post if desired


What are we unable to do?


  • Give advice, or replace the advice of your health professional

  • Attempt to diagnose or offer specific medical or treatment advice

  • Offer any legal advice

  • Become personally involved with the caller

  • Continue the call if being threatened or verbally abused 


How much does it cost to call us?


All 0300 numbers will be billed at the same rate as standard geographic 01 or 02 numbers, and will be included as part of any free call deals that you have with your network supplier. The HS Trust does not profit from any calls made and pays a proportion of the call costs.


What to do if our lines are closed


The Samaritans Helpline can be reached on 116 123, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is a free confidential service that can offer support and advice.
